Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network reported the following Sunday morning on NFL GameDay:
"One of the big topics we've been talking about the last several weeks -- the Indianapolis Colts, who, this past week, traded off two big-time franchise faces, now are in deep discussions on potentially trading away another, Jonathan Taylor. I'm told the Colts are in fact open to trading him.
"They are having active discussions. There are several teams interested. Would have to be huge package, maybe similar to what Christian McCaffrey got a couple years ago. But as of now, Taylor is expected to play today and then will readdress this early in the week."
The Giants are among the teams with "some level of interest" in Taylor, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday morning.
The McCaffrey trade that Rapoport referenced saw the Carolina Panthers deal McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers for second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-round picks.
Through seven games this season, Taylor, a seventh-year pro, has taken 140 rushes for 587 yards (4.2 average) and eight touchdowns.
The Colts are 2-5 entering Sunday's 1 p.m. game at the 4-2 Jacksonville Jaguars.
