The Valkyries took a 68-63 win in Game 7, led by Gabby Williams, who scored 30 points in the game, including 28 in the second half alone.
Trailing 24-30 at halftime, the Valks needed a big response if they had to go on and win the WNBA Finals as the Dream were not going to be a team that would let them take the victory that easily.
However, Williams took over the game, scoring 28 of the 44 points for the Valkyries in the second half.
Immediately after the win, the congratulations started pouring in from some big figures, including Kamala Harris.
"Congratulations, Golden State Valkyries on your WNBA championship," Harris said in a video. "You all are just amazing and what you do to represent the Bay Area, our beloved Bay Area. What you have done to create community to enhance culture and only in two seasons. I cannot wait to see what you do next. But thank you for your power, for your grit, for your grace."
This video from Harris was posted to the official Valkyries X account. She also posted a message for the team on her personal account.
"Congratulations, @valkyries, on your first-ever WNBA championship! In just two seasons, you have shown remarkable grit and determination on the court and built an incredible community off the court. Fans in the Bay Area and beyond are so proud of you," Harris wrote.
Harris grew up in Oakland, California and has always maintained the stance that she is a huge Golden State Warriors fan. But she is also a huge advocate of the WNBA, even inviting the 2022 Las Vegas Aces to the White House.
Harris was also present at a WNBA game between the Los Angeles Sparks and Chicago Sky in July, along with her husband.
Barack Obama, who served as the former President of USA, also congratulated the Valkyries for their historic win at Ballhalla.
