Marwan Rahiki (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has been booked for a fight against JooSang Yoo (9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) when the UFC returns to Sydney in February. People with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the news to MMA Junkie, but asked to remain anonymous because the UFC has not yet made a formal announcement.
UFC Sydney takes place Feb. 6 at Afterpay Arena in Sydney. The card is set to be headlined by a lightweight matchup between Australian rising star Quillan Salkilld and Benoit Saint Denis. Rahiki is from Morocco, but trains in Sydney.
Rahiki came to the UFC, like the majority of the promotion's new fighters, through DWCS. A second-round knockout win a year ago got him his deal. He's been busy in his first year in the UFC. His debut in March was a second-round TKO that won him $100,000 in bonus money. Then he knocked out Ollie Schmid in May.
But in September, he found himself on the wrong end of a unanimous decision loss to rising star Tommy McMillen. Although he won another $100,000 in bonus money for Fight of the Night, the setback was the first of his pro career – and also the first time he had to go to the scorecards.
Yoo brought a perfect record to his promotional debut at UFC 316 in June 2025 and walked away with a performance bonus when he knocked out Jeka Saragih in just 28 seconds. Four months later, though, he was on the other end of the spectrum when Daniel Santos knocked him out – the first loss of his career. After a layoff of nearly a year, he returned in September, but dropped a split call to Michael Aswell Jr. at UFC 331.
